Friday Night Live is a finished/canceled talk show in the MarioWiki and also available as a comedy comic in Userpedia. The show, hosted by ex-sysop Paper Jorge and his pet Doshi, claims to be "packed with interviews, skits and fun!" It airs every Friday night, in New Wikisburg, although there have been several exceptions when the show was not aired on a Friday but rather on a Saturday or not even aired that week at all. In August, due to no one reading the 9th Episode of FNL at all, Jorge decided that Userpedia was no longer even worth it. Later in January, almost a month after FNL's debut, The Tonight Show with Jorge Castillo was made.

From April 2009 to September 2009, the comic was in a very long hiatus. The comic finally returned with Episode 9. During those months, it was in the hands of Purple Ninjakoopa who used it to make "lame webisodes on his website" but Jorge got the rights back. It was then canceled abruptly after Episode 9 was ignored drastically compared to the other issues. Although at first glance, Friday Night Live may seem like a parody of the American TV series Saturday Night Live, the two are quite different. The stage where Friday Night Live is held is near central New Wikisburg, and originally was Wayoshi's house however was remodeled in February by Paper Jorge.

A sequel series titled The Tonight Show with Jorge Castillo began on July 6th, 2012, and concluded July 12th, 2013. Chronologically, it takes place three years after Friday Night Live, and exists within the same canon.

To successfully run a show, Jorge hired a crew to help him. The first person to officially be hired as a Lakitu cameraman hired since the "Pilot" episode. He has been the cameraman for almost every single episode, except Episode 7, in which he was replaced by an unknown person. Other members include Purple Ninjakoopa, an assistant of Jorge always looking for fame, Super-Yoshi, Jorge's friend, ParaBob-omb, the one who delivers coffee to the set and several others. There are also several actors such as Toadbert101 who Jorge has hired to help him with creating skits. For a list of skits, see this page.

Criticism

Reviews

Friday Night Live has been well received, with many positive reviews from even the very first. Episode 7 is considered by some to be the best, while others consider the second or fourth the best. It is regarded as very funny and some think it is the best or one of the best current running comics in the new Userpedia. The only negative review so far is from Toadbert101 calling it "fail but win at the same time", while MarioBros777 likes it except he thinks the humor should be more predictable rather than unpredictable. FNL has made several fads, such as a fad in which Black Hole Sun continued to say "It sucks." or Porplemontage's Emo Box. The only episode that has been badly received was Episode 6, and slightly Episode 3. Episode 6 was so poorly received, that the episode hasn't ever since been re-aired on TV, while other episodes have been re-aired several times. So far, in Userpedia, it is the comic with most amount of issues, having 52 issues, which is more than When Sysops Attack! and more than one contributor, as DarkHero Sonic the Dark and Xpike are both set to make "special" episodes of FNL.

Dangers and Terrorism

Due to the popularity of the show, the show has been hijacked several times by users and terrorist trolls have attempted murdering Paper Jorge and other members of the FNL crew. The first attack of the show was in Episode 3 in where a band of gangsters from the UnMario Wiki attempted to murder Jorge. Behind the scenes footage showed members of an organization revealed to be Thousand Fire fighting against the gangsters while CAPS LOCK LORD ran the show. The show was hijacked by DarkHero Sonic the Dark once, and another time by Purple Ninjakoopa. Rumors have it that Xpike has a plan of taking over the show.

Other Media

Clips and scenes from Friday Night Live have been used in the show User Soup (starring SonicMario) and the Userpedian comic WTF Tales. There have been mentions of Friday Night Live in Neurario's podcast, Live from New Wikisburg. The popularity of the show has reached into the MarioWikian chat, receiving various references to it, and occasionally, an episode of FNL will create a short fad in chat. Merchandise of Friday Night Live has been released, such as a plush doll of Paper Jorge and Doshi and a coffee mug with Para Bob-omb.
